Terms
Effective 15 October 2026
In Lay Terms explains how money and markets work. It is journalism, not financial advice. You are welcome to read, quote and share it; please don’t republish it wholesale as your own.
What In Lay Terms is — and is not
In Lay Terms is an explanatory publication. It describes how financial machinery works and what particular events mean. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice, it is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything, and it is not tailored to your circumstances. Nobody here knows your situation. Before acting on anything you read, consult someone qualified who does.
Accuracy, and what happens when we get it wrong
Stories are researched and checked against named sources, which are listed on each article so you can go and read them yourself. Even so, published work can be wrong, and figures that were accurate when published go out of date. In Lay Terms gives no warranty that everything here is complete or current, and is not liable for decisions taken on the basis of it.
What it does undertake is to correct errors openly rather than quietly. How that works is set out in the corrections policy.

Who publishes this
In Lay Terms is an independent publication edited by Ithran Olivacce, Founder & Editor-in-Chief.
In Lay Terms has not yet published the legal entity that operates it. This page will name it once it exists, rather than name something that does not.
Because the operating entity is not yet established, these terms name no governing jurisdiction. That will be stated here once there is an accurate one to state.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, this page changes with them and the effective date at the top is updated.
